This bizarre Walmart banana hack could save you $20 on Nintendo Switch games like Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. By adding a banana to your cart, the discount codes FAST30 or SAVE3X can be applied to game orders, which normally only work on groceries.

It seems some locations have noticed a banana shortage as a result of this workaround. The loophole appears to be more effective with bananas, perhaps due to their iconic connection to Donkey Kong, but any small grocery item will do. Some report that the hack still works even if the banana is removed after adding a Switch game or other non-qualifying product to your cart.

The SAVE3X code is intended for a customer’s first three pickup or delivery orders from a local store, so you’ll need to ensure that both the game and fruit are in stock. There does seem to be some inconsistency in how the codes work, though. Some people report being able to skip the banana workaround completely by switching from delivery to store pickup.
