Analogue revamps retro consoles for modern gamers

The machines get a face-lift and some practical upgrades, but no 4K for now.

Analogue has announced a new iteration of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles, bringing a sleeker design and some useful updates. The Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus now feature USB-C and USB-A ports, allowing for more versatile charging and connectivity options. Built-in wireless capabilities mean gamers can connect their controllers without the need for additional dongles, enhancing the user experience.

While these consoles still offer excellent compatibility with classic cartridges, they fall short on the latest in visual technology. The 1080p displays remain a step below 4K, but the addition of hot-swappable cartridges and remote power-up features adds convenience for those who want to keep their consoles on standby.

The preorders for these upgraded consoles will begin on October 19th at 9AM PT/11AM ET for $219.99, with expected shipping in December. For those who crave the simplicity of old-school gaming with a modern twist, these consoles might just be the perfect solution.
