AMD’s FSR 4.1 Takes Over Xbox Consoles Too

It’s like AMD’s scaling algorithms are on a global tech mission, conquering every device in their path.

AMD has announced the rollout of its latest upscaling technology, FSR 4.1, to the Xbox Series S and X consoles, as well as laptops and 6000-series GPUs. This tech, which promises to enhance performance in over 300 supported games, including Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 6, is set to debut with the latest Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 drivers for Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs today, with Xbox owners to follow suit shortly.

Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager of AMD’s computer and graphics group, explains, “We want to bring that work to more gamers, we didn’t just bring it over, we made it better. We went back into the model, we tuned it and optimized the code path.” This tweak ensures that FSR 4.1 is not just a one-time improvement, but a sustained effort to enhance gaming experiences.

Xbox CTO Scott Van Vilet echoes the sentiment, saying, “Our teams are continuing to work together across hardware and software, and there’s even more ahead with Project Helix, leveraging FSR Diamond to power what comes next.” For Xbox Series S owners, this could be a game-changer, as the device is less powerful than its siblings. FSR 4.1 could significantly boost performance, making the difference between a decent gaming experience and a stellar one.

However, the exact timeline for FSR 4.1’s arrival on Xbox consoles remains unclear, with it simply listed as “coming soon.” This leaves gamers in suspense, eagerly awaiting the update that could revolutionize their gaming experience.
