Microsoft has rolled out a new feature called the Xbox Gamepad Cursor, allowing users of certain Windows-based handheld devices to turn their left stick into a virtual mouse. This is particularly useful for apps not designed with gamepads in mind.
The feature works seamlessly within Microsoft's own Xbox mode on Windows 11 and can be activated via the Game Bar without needing any additional software like Asus' Armory Crate. Once enabled, the left stick acts as a cursor while the right stick handles scrolling, with the A button serving as the click.
For users who need precise control or find traditional navigation cumbersome in certain PC games, this addition could be a game-changer. However, it might also add another layer of complexity to an already intricate gaming experience on smaller devices.
The feature is currently being tested by Xbox Insiders and can be accessed through the Xbox Insider Hub. It's expected that more users will get access as the system rolls out more broadly.
