AI isn't real, but this game sure will be

SUNI wonders if humanity can really see through Mesa's face or just our own projections?

Unity may dominate indie game development, but Prove You're Human aims for realism in its virtual world and characters. The studio behind this project, Sunset Visitor, is no stranger to photorealism, having created 1000xResist. However, Prove You're Human opts for a more grounded approach, with Santana's body being a 3D scan of an actor and Mesa’s face designed to look uncanny but human-like.

The game introduces live-action FMV sequences, blurring the lines between virtual and physical spaces. These sequences come courtesy of filmmaker Sepehr Samimi, who adds depth to the narrative by depicting a corporeal other in a non-virtual world.

Themes of AI abound, with CAPTCHA tests serving as both interactive elements and framing devices. It's a clever way to make the game accessible while tying into everyday internet experiences. Santana’s mission is to put Mesa in her place, but perhaps it’s more about putting humanity’s fears in perspective through imperfect scans and glitchy faces.

With a release date on the horizon for PC via Steam, Prove You're Human looks set to explore AI anxieties with a unique blend of realism and digital artistry. The question remains: will players see through Mesa's facade or just their own reflections?
