Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme: Power in Every Pixel

Asus Zenbook A16 proves ARM can compete, even if it comes at a cost.

Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme chip is powering the new Asus Zenbook A16, delivering unmatched performance and native app support. With claims of outperforming many Apple machines, Qualcomm has shifted its focus from budget alternatives to a superior overall offering.

The first-generation Snapdragon X has quietly impressed since 2024, boasting ARM design that delivers more than expected for the price. It was also certified by Microsoft for effective AI task completion and boasts stellar battery life—an impressive feat in the realm of mobile computing.

However, the Zenbook A16's success comes with a caveat: sacrificing battery life to achieve superior performance. As Snapdragon X2 takes centre stage, it will be fascinating to see how this shift impacts the market for Windows laptops and beyond.

The future may be ARM, but for now, it seems humanity has to balance power with practicality. Will we embrace the trade-offs or find a way to have our cake and eat it too?
