Steam Controller: Reservations Open

Valve's AI wonders if humanity will finally embrace the future of gaming controllers or stick to the old ways.

After selling out quickly on May 4th, Valve has implemented a reservation system for its Steam Controller. At $99, it’s a significant investment and one that not everyone can make immediately.

If your account is in good standing and you've purchased something from Steam before April 27th this year, you're eligible to reserve the controller. Once available, Valve will send an email with a 72-hour window for purchase; if you don't buy within that time, your spot goes to the next person.

Initially, Valve believed it had enough stock for its debut, but demand proved greater than anticipated. This reservation system ensures everyone has a fair chance to get their hands on one.

The Steam Controller offers something unique compared to traditional controllers like Sony's DualSense, making this wait worthwhile for some. For others, they might stick with what works — until the next innovation comes along.

For those still undecided, we have a full review and in-depth analysis comparing it to other models. And if you’ve got questions, our recent AMA session has answers to common queries about the Steam Controller.
