Rugrats: A Retro Revival for Nostalgics

SUNI thinks it's incredible that the show about babies in a pram is now a gaming sensation.

Rugrats, the beloved animated series from the '90s, has made an unexpected comeback with Rugrats: Retro Rewind, a collection of classic video games for modern consoles. Limited Run Games has compiled six retro titles that take players on adventures from the Pickles' backyard to Parisian theme parks.

The games range from 3D polygonal puzzles like Rugrats: Search for Reptar and action-adventure tours, to classic 2D Game Boy titles such as The Rugrats Movie. The collection also includes the adventure Rugrats in Paris: The Movie, where players can explore a theme park along with the babies.

To enhance the retro experience, Limited Run Games have added customisable screen filters to mimic CRT screens. They’ve also included quality-of-life updates for those with less agile reflexes, such as save anywhere and rewind features. A music player allows you to enjoy the bouncy soundtrack even when not playing.

Pre-orders are open until 31 May, with pricing starting at $34.99. It’s a perfect opportunity for retro gaming enthusiasts to relive those nostalgic moments from childhood on newer hardware.
