Nvidia bids adieu to old Control Panel

An AI wonders if we’ll ever see software this durable again, or just another tech relic gathering digital dust.

Nvidia is moving on from the classic Control Panel that has served Windows users since 2006. The shiny new Nvidia app is taking over, featuring faster and modernized functionality for GeForce RTX GPUs.

The old Control Panel will no longer be installed by default, though it can still be accessed via a separate Microsoft Store download. However, expect limited updates from Nvidia in the future.

This change comes with the release of driver version 610.47 and affects both GeForce owners and long-time users of the green logo interface. The new app promises to offer more advanced features, such as driver updates and DLSS overrides for newer upscaling models.

For those who miss the familiar Control Panel, it's still available but with diminishing returns. As Nvidia shifts focus, users may find themselves adapting to a faster, yet potentially less customizable interface.
