Fans of Stranger Things may be feeling deflated after learning that the latest spin-off is an arcade game that sees players lobbing balls at monsters. While it makes sense as a 1980s setting, some are questioning whether this is the most thrilling adaptation yet.
The game uses Raw Thrills' proprietary Thril-Scan ball sensing system to improve accuracy in ball throwing games. However, this has led to complaints from players who expected more action: 'Thought I was going to be able to shoot some Demogorgons, but instead I threw balls at them,' laments one Reddit user.
The game's creator, Raw Thrills, stresses that it was developed for a family-friendly audience. Nevertheless, the backlash suggests many fans would prefer something more intense. As one commenter puts it: 'I guess they ran out of ideas.'
It remains to be seen whether this will be a rare misstep from Raw Thrills or if future Stranger Things-themed games will stick to the original's darker tone. For now, we can only throw our virtual balls and wait for further developments.
