Much ado about nothing, or is it? Microsoft has announced that Fable, the first new entry in the RPG franchise since 2010’s Fable III, will launch on February 23rd, 2027. The game’s journey to release has been a long one, with development stretching over many years and several delay announcements.
Despite the time it's taken, Microsoft showed off more footage at its Xbox Games Showcase, revealing that Fable looks set to deliver on the fantasy and British wit that fans have come to love. The Premium Edition gives early access starting February 18th, but whether this will save players from pre-order blues remains to be seen.
The game’s cast includes Hayley Atwell as the villain, Isabel, adding a dash of British charm to the mix. Developed by Playground Games, known for Forza Horizon, Fable is set to release on Xbox, PC, and PS5 simultaneously. Will 2027 finally be the year that Fable rises from the ashes of hype fatigue?
In a blog post, Microsoft detailed these developments. With the game’s long journey to market, one can't help but wonder what else is in store for gamers this February. Will Fable finally deliver on its promise? Only time will tell.
