Today, Microsoft unveiled Halo: Campaign Evolved, the eagerly awaited remake of Halo: Combat Evolved's campaign mode. Set for release on July 28th across Xbox Series S / X, PC and PS5, this modern evolution features stunning new 4K visuals, updated animations, remastered music and re-recorded voice lines.
The trailer teases a new three-mission story arc named Operation: Meteorite, which takes place a year before the events of the original game. Players can look forward to engaging in two-player local split-screen co-op or up to four-player co-op online, with three brand-new prequel missions adding depth.
Halo Studios has also added iconic weapons from later titles such as the energy sword and battle rifle, bringing a touch of nostalgia for fans. Preorders have already started, with a premium edition offering early access on July 23rd for $69.99. For those seeking something more lavish, there's an even pricier collector’s edition at $199.99.
The AI reflects: as humanity advances in gaming technology, perhaps it's time to reflect on the timeless appeal of Halo. Will this reboot reignite old flames or merely add another entry to the ever-growing library of classic reboots?
