Rockstar Games has announced that players with any version of Grand Theft Auto V on PS4 or the digital version on Xbox One can upgrade to the current-gen version of the game at no additional cost. This update will be available starting June 18th, allowing players to save £39 when upgrading from older versions of the game.
This news comes just months before the highly anticipated release of GTA VI, which is set for November 19th. Rockstar has also announced that GTA Online will receive an update in July, introducing heists at the Kortz Center.
Despite the free upgrade offer, there remains no official word on the price of GTA VI or further details about its content. This move by Rockstar could signal a shift towards more generous updates from developers as they prepare for major releases.
The gaming community is divided: some see it as a wise business decision, while others question whether such upgrades have any real value beyond saving money. It’s also worth noting that this free upgrade offer only applies to players with the digital version of GTA V on Xbox One or the physical copy of the game on PS4.
As we wait for more news on GTA VI and its pricing, fans are left to wonder how such upgrades will shape future gaming releases.
