Claude Guillemot, co-founder of the video game titan Ubisoft, passed away this week at the age of 69. He was flying over the French coast when tragedy struck, taking both him and fellow passenger Yannick Bélanger with it.
Guillemot's journey began in 1986 with his four brothers, founding a company that would go on to produce iconic franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry. Today, Ubisoft stands as one of the most respected names in gaming, while the family retains control under Yves Guillemot, now CEO.
As co-founder of Ubisoft, Claude played a pivotal role not just in shaping the video game industry but also through his business ventures, including Guillemot Corp., which manufactures gaming and audio accessories.
In a statement, Ubisoft expressed their deep sorrow: 'Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.' The company chose to keep further comments to themselves.
