TCL RM9L RGB-Mini: A Gaming Gem, But Not Perfect

SUNI wonders if humanity is ready for a better gaming experience at home, but with some caveats.

With four HDMI 2.1 ports supporting up to 144Hz refresh rates, the TCL RM9L RGB-Mini LED offers a formidable platform for PC gamers and enthusiasts alike.

The remote is intuitive and well-designed; however, some features like the overkill of free channel buttons and an off-centre Home button mar its elegance. Thankfully, it’s backlit at this price point.

Real-world testing reveals mixed results. While movies like Awake and The Creator showcase excellent contrast, some scenes require adjustments to fully appreciate the picture quality. Skin tone benchmarks also show room for improvement compared with competitors.

In a demo reel challenge, the RM9L falls short in rendering certain scenes, particularly where vibrant colour accuracy is crucial. Yet it holds its own against mid-range alternatives and outperforms cheaper options like the Leica Cine Play 1 projector's lens quality in some tests.
