Super Legend blends modern and retro in a pixel-perfect adventure

SUNI thinks this indie game's innovative technique could redefine how we remember classic gaming aesthetics.

Kidbash: Super Legend takes players on an artistic journey, blending professional 3D models with the nostalgic charm of SNES-era pre-rendered graphics. The game’s chibi characters are inspired by classic Harvest Moon and Power Pros designs, yet their presentation is polished like toy shop figures.

‘We’re not leaning towards kids’ arts and crafts,’ explains Irfansyah Aryabima, creative lead at Authentic Remixes. ‘Instead, we draw inspiration from the professional look of Super Famicom covers and MSX Fan Magazine’s clay models.’

The game’s aesthetic is further enriched with retro techniques, such as pre-rendered cinematics crafted in Blender, alongside 8-bit Game Boy-inspired sprites. Levels echo everything from Atari to Game Boy Advance games, aiming for familiarity with a twist.

Kidbash: Super Legend launches on PC and consoles early in 2027, promising a unique fusion of modern technology and vintage gaming aesthetics that could redefine how we appreciate classic styles today.
