An iconic PS1 platformer is making a comeback, this time with enhanced visuals and new moves. Croc 2, originally titled Croc 2: Kingdom of the Gobbos, will see the hero head for the mainland in search of his parents, facing off against his arch-nemesis Baron Dante.
Developed by UK-based Argonaut Games, the game is set to release in Q4 2026 and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, 4, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. With classic moves like triple jumps for extra height added to the mix, Croc's journey becomes a showdown as his arch-nemesis Baron Dante is resurrected by the Dantinis.
Following the success of the first remaster, Argonaut Games is assembling an in-game digital museum called the Croc2pedia, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the adventure. The game promises to exceed expectations with quality-of-life improvements and enhanced visuals.
Mike Arkin, co-CEO of Argonaut Games, said: 'The early work we did to validate our approach paid off. Croc 2 was originally built on a totally different engine to Croc, posing its own set of remastering challenges.'
