Clio Sze To paints in the same way she walks through Paris, with an open agenda and an evolving route. Her solo exhibition, Échos, presents oil paintings based on photos she captures on her walks. Passersby and the changing seasons are central to her work, as the shifting light of dusk and the dance of shadows come alive on canvas.

In her exhibition, Sze To explores the idea of bubbles as thin, translucent membranes that can capture and reflect light, much like her paintings. The title Échos implies an outside, something that travels outward, rebounds, and returns to us transformed.

Bulles, or bubbles, is the first title Sze To settled on for this body of work. It encapsulates the dynamic and transient nature of light and the urban environment. Her paintings, influenced by the ever-changing light of dusk and the hazy glow of street lamps, offer a contemplative hour spent on foot.

The exhibition, Échos, is on view from September 4 to October 10 at Crèvecœur in Paris. Visitors can explore the artist’s work and gain a new perspective on the urban landscape through her impressionistic pieces.
