Electric Dreama Studios, a small London-based creative practice, has unveiled a twisted AI-generated sculpture, CH(AI)MER, at the British Art Fair. The monstrous amalgamation of AI-generated imagery is meant to be a vow to never produce such “slop” again.
The sculpture, a grotesque chimera of AI-generated body parts, symbolises the chaos and destruction often attributed to AI's contributions. Its poreless, melting skin and uncanny eyes serve as a cautionary tale for artists and creatives.
Sam Nutt, creative director at Electric Dreama Studios, explains, “We get why most of us reject AI. It’s the slop and the soulless nature of most AI-generated work. The CH(AI)MERA is a clear example of that—the monster that the world has created with the haphazard generation and use of AI.”
This piece serves as a stark reminder for the studio and its clients to always prioritise human creativity and touch in their work, ensuring that technology remains a tool, not a replacement.
