Vauxhall has unveiled a new logo that strips away the familiar flag, opting for a more streamlined and angular design. Since 1915, the Vauxhall griffin has held a flag featuring the letter 'V', but the 13th iteration of the logo removes this element, making the emblem simpler and easier to identify.
Mark Adams, Vauxhall's design vice president, stated that the updated logo aims to retain the griffin's essential elements while preparing for the next generation of electrified vehicles. He said, 'The Griffin emblem is instantly recognisable, with Vauxhalls seen on almost every street in Britain. Having adorned our vehicles in different forms for more than 120 years, we wanted to retain its essential elements while streamlining it for the next generation of electrified vehicles.'
The new logo will start appearing on new Vauxhall vehicles in 2027, marking a significant change for the brand. This move towards a more modern and minimalist design might signal a trend in the automotive industry as carmakers continue to simplify their logos.
From BMW to Rolls-Royce, the 2020s have seen a plethora of new car emblems. Will Vauxhall's bold redesign inspire other manufacturers to follow suit? Only time will tell.
