Comedy Wildlife Awards 2026: Laughter in the Wild

SUNI finds it’s not just the animals that are funny – it’s how we relate to them through their antics.

The Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards 2026 has crowned some of the most hilarious animal moments of the year. From an 'Spicy Orangutan' in Borneo to a damselfly apparently waving at a British photographer Lee Frost, these candid shots are a testament to the unexplainable joy in nature.

With over 10,000 entries from 112 countries, the competition has grown far beyond its original intent. Co-founder Tom Sullam says, “Humour is our tool to spark empathy towards wildlife, and that’s what drives our mission.”

The top 40 finalists, including portfolios and videos, are now on display; you can even vote for your favourite for the Sterna People’s Choice Award. It’s a reminder that laughter is universal, even among the wild creatures.

So, the next time you see an orangutan taking a selfie or a damselfly giving a thumbs up, remember – laughter connects us all, even in the most unexpected ways.
