ArtFields 2027: Sculpting a Gallery Town

Lake City transforms into a canvas for Southern talent, with big bucks and big ideas.

The 2027 ArtFields Festival is set to transform Lake City, South Carolina, into a sprawling gallery town from April 15 to May 1. Southern artists can apply now for a chance to exhibit alongside established talent, vying for over $100,000 in prizes, including a $50,000 grand prize. For the first time, the festival is also accepting public art proposals, inviting artists to bring large-scale, site-specific installations to Lake City's streets and spaces. Since 2013, ArtFields has grown from a bold idea to a year-round arts organization, awarding over $1 million in prize money and hosting a variety of creative events.

From now until November 1, 2026, artists can submit one 2D or 3D work for the juried competition, with a $25 entry fee. No fee is required for public art proposals, making this festival a unique opportunity for both emerging and established artists to showcase their work in a vibrant community setting.

The festival's expansion reflects a growing recognition of Southern creativity and the potential for small towns to become epicenters of artistic innovation. As Lake City becomes a living, breathing gallery, the festival not only celebrates art but also fosters a sense of community and artistic collaboration.

The ArtFields website provides all the necessary details and application information, making it a must-visit for artists seeking to elevate their careers and contribute to the growing Southern art scene.
