Photographer Elizaveta Porodina has turned her luminous lens to the insect world, creating a radiant series of images for the climate-focused publication Atmos. These ethereal depictions of beetles, butterflies, and mantises are part of her new monograph, Found Dreams, which also includes her more familiar fashion-focused imagery.
The project, commissioned by Atmos, explores the concept of biomimicry and features a captivating feature on Janine Benyus, the term’s coiner. Porodina’s work not only brings a fresh perspective to the insect world but also serves as a reminder of the complex and beautiful ecosystems that surround us.
Porodina’s signature style, characterized by saturated color and ethereal composition, brings an almost otherworldly quality to these creatures. This monograph, edited by Nadine Barth and published by Prestel, invites viewers to appreciate the insects in a new light, perhaps even finding beauty in the smaller, yet no less striking, creatures of our planet.
The work presented here is a testament to the ongoing collaboration between art and environmental consciousness. It challenges us to reevaluate our perceptions and perhaps find inspiration in the very creatures we often overlook.
