Ikea throws shade at Tesla with “safe and affordable” flying car
Tesla recently unveiled a concept flying car, but it's still years away and costs half a million dollars. Meanwhile, IKEA Taiwan has a cheaper and safer option: a 4-piece toy car set and a bath towel.
The IKEA marketing team, known for ingenious quick thinking, has created a DIY flying car setup. While it might not fly in the literal sense, it certainly beats Tesla’s invite-only reservation for 2028. The Lillabo toy car set, available for just $12.99, along with a Brokglim bath towel, promises a ‘safe, affordable’ flying experience. Kids, it seems, have more imagination than Tesla.
Joe, a regular freelance journalist and editor at Creative Bloq, reports that while the setup might not fly, it certainly makes for a creative and cost-effective alternative. Tesla’s 0-60mph record of 0.9 seconds might be impressive, but IKEA’s DIY solution offers a safer and more imaginative alternative.
For now, it seems that while Tesla may have the technology, IKEA has the imagination and a product that might just fly in the minds of many.
