Anarchic antics ensnare the hearts of many, and no one does chaos quite like the cat. The Paris-based artist Léo Forest taps into this spirit with his playful, dynamic pencil drawings that capture the physical and emotional quirks of these independent creatures.
Feline behaviour, from brawls to grooming, becomes a visual spectacle in Forest's works. His creations evoke Italian Futurist painter Giacomo Balla’s seminal piece 'Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash', using flailing limbs and blurred motion to convey the speed and energy of these feline moments.
Felines are not just pets; they're performers, according to Léo Forest. His portfolio includes pairs brawling, individuals in grooming mode, scratching, or attacking – each a snapshot of cat life's unpredictable rhythms. As cats share over 95% of their DNA with tigers and can leap five times their height, it’s no wonder their movements are so captivating.
Forest is currently working on a project with Moosey in London where prints are available for purchase. Follow him on Instagram to stay updated on his latest works and musings about the cat kingdom.
