The Judd Foundation has appointed Alexandra Cunningham Cameron as director of design, a role tailored for her expertise. Cameron will lead the fabrication and strategic growth of Donald Judd’s iconic furniture line.
With a background in curating contemporary designs at the Cooper Hewitt museum, Cameron brings a wealth of experience in exhibition organisation and acquisitions, including works by Tschabalala Self and Sofía Gallisá Muriente. Her role will focus on expanding Judd Furniture's product range and positioning his work within current cultural conversations.
Flavin Judd, the foundation’s artistic director, expressed excitement about Cameron's appointment, stating that her knowledge would help bring more of Judd's furniture designs to the world through collaborations and initiatives in the coming years. The role represents a significant step for the nonprofit, blending its mission with contemporary design practices.
Cameron will be responsible for overseeing product development, operations, and strategic growth at Judd Furniture LLC. This includes managing the production of over 70 designs by Judd originally, all available for custom order. Cameron's insights on Judd’s writings and papers will also guide future design initiatives, ensuring that his legacy remains relevant in modern contexts.
