HP Z2 Mini G1a: A Tiny Powerhouse for Pros

This compact workstation packs a punch, but is it worth the price tag in today’s tech market?

Our Verdict

If you’re after a machine like this, you already know what you need. This compact workstation does everything quickly, making it a potent rival to the Mac Studio. However, its premium price might make you think twice.

Key specifications include an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395, 128GB of RAM and expandable storage with Thunderbolt support. It’s designed for professionals in video effects, 3D rendering or AI development, but comes with a hefty price tag.

The design is impressive, albeit noisy under load. With enterprise-grade security and lots of physical ports, it offers flexibility. However, the lack of expandability might be a downside for some users.

Benchmark scores show superb performance in rendering and video tasks, but the noise during heavy use can be disruptive. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for those who need top-tier computing power in a small package.
