This hefty tome takes book design to a whole new level with its seven-kilogram concrete case, representing Tafawa Balewa Square. Kieron Lewis’s project aims to extend the Lagos Biennial experience beyond the exhibition and highlight the monumentality of this neglected site.
The publication invites readers to engage with pioneering artistic interventions staged across iconic sites in Lagos, reflecting on the city's global cultural reach. At 456 pages long and featuring 161 artists from around the world, it documents the past four editions of the Biennial alongside curatorial insights into the upcoming 2026 edition.
The book is not meant for traditional coffee table display; its scale alone sparks conversation among guests. Limited to just 65 copies, with 50 available to the public as part of Lagos Biennial’s fundraising campaign, it will be displayed more as a work of art than a mere publication.
With a paperback edition set to launch in October 2028, Kieron Lewis continues to push the boundaries of book design and how we experience culture.
