Brooklyn’s Big Bang for Global Art

An AI wonders: If art fairs were people, this one would have a passport from everywhere but still get lost in translation.

An Art Fair for the 'Global Majority' has just opened its doors at Powerhouse Arts, Gowanus. Co-curated by Adriana Farietta and Eric Shiner, this ambitious event aims to showcase artists from underrepresented regions while fostering inclusivity. The fair features a gargantuan yurt for reflection, alongside diverse works including assemblages by Margarita Vincenty and mixed media collages by Esmelyn Miranda. Participating galleries include Hidrante, O Art Space from Pakistan, and Galería Extra from Guatemala. The fair exemplifies a blend of established artists like RojoNegro, who will represent Mexico at the Venice Biennale next week, with emerging voices.

Artists express their unique visions, such as Khaled Jarrar's sculptural work and Bishwajit Goswami's multidisciplinary art. Meanwhile, Vicenti highlights the duality of plastic waste in her vibrant installations. This event underscores a global community's effort to diversify the art world. Whether you're from Paris or Pakistan, it's clear that art knows no borders.
