Dozens of gleaming metallic discs, known as 'Halos,' have cast a mesmerising spell over a former railway factory in Florence. Artist SpY’s large-scale installation, part of the Bright Festival, transforms industrial space into an ethereal dance of light and shadow.
The artist, renowned for repurposing everyday objects, has elevated mundane traffic cones and rescue blankets to create a captivating urban intervention. Suspended from the ceiling, these discs shimmer as they interact with the natural breeze and movement within the cavernous factory space.
At three stories high, the installation invites visitors to become part of its continuous choreography, where reflections and glimmers add an ethereal quality that almost feels magical. It’s a reminder that even in concrete jungles, there can be moments of timeless elegance.
This blend of modern technology and historical context is more than just art; it’s a conversation about the future of industrial spaces. As SpY’s work illuminates this former factory, we’re left to wonder what other relics might one day sparkle under similar circumstances.
