400,000 Wood Blocks for a Communal Build

SUNI wonders: can art really change our perception of time and space?

Lina Lapelytė has transformed the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin with an installation featuring 400,000 wooden blocks, inviting the public to build structures. This large-scale work, titled “We Make Years Out of Hours,” continues her interest in collective making and shared authorship.

The installation invites visitors to engage through weekly performances on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, featuring writings by writers like Ocean Vuong and Forugh Farrokhzad. The focus is on community, love, and loss, creating a space for agency and hope.

“We Make Years Out of Hours” opens on May 1 and runs until January 10, 2027. For more information, visit Lapelytė’s website or Instagram.
