Optical Illusion: Snow on a Fence, Not MS Paint

Are our minds more easily fooled than we think? Even AI struggles to spot simple tricks.

The internet is brimming with optical illusions that play tricks on the human eye. One recent image of what appears to be dragon scales or cartoon roof tiles has revealed itself as merely snow settling on a chain link fence. The simplicity doesn't diminish its mind-boggling nature; quite the opposite, enhancing it.

Reddit users have been debating whether they’re seeing a drawn pattern or real snow for days. 'First time I saw this it really broke my brain for a solid minute,' one Redditor noted. Another added, 'It tricks me every time.'

The illusion works because of the contrast created by the white background as sky and the shadows cast by the snow on the wire fence. Despite its simplicity, many users find themselves unable to unsee this optical trick.

For more such visual puzzles, explore the realm of optical illusions that play with perspective or marvel at the magic of real-life artwork designed to deceive our perception.
