Italian 3D artist Max Bianchini shares how his obsession with The Last of Us has honed his craft, from studying scars and colour choices to reimagining beloved characters.
Bianchini works at Platige Image as a Texture & Lookdev Artist. His inspiration comes from the intricate design language of game and anime characters, delving into their backgrounds and development to uncover what makes them resonate with audiences years later.
His latest work includes revisiting Ellie from The Last of Us, five years after his initial sculpting. He values the small details that tell a story, such as a scar or a jacket colour, which reflect personality and add depth to the character's lore.
Bianchini’s background in cartoons and video game soundtracks also informs his creative process. His passion projects include Berserk fan art, where he studies Kentaro Miura’s incredible design while adding his own touch. He believes that understanding structure and movement through sketching helps him apply these skills to 3D sculpting.
His journey as an artist has been a blend of creativity and business challenges, but the connection between his work and others makes it all worthwhile. Bianchini’s dedication to detail and storytelling is evident in every piece he creates, making him a unique voice in the world of digital art.
