Play ‘Liminal Bingo,’ Pat Perry’s participatory photo treasure hunt. Get comfortable heading outside with friends and capturing obscure spots in your neighborhood. The Detroit-based artist has launched this communal photo hunt for all ages, encouraging the use of film cameras but phones are okay too.
The project involves gathering photos of illustrated prompts. Collect five in a row to win! Instructions are less straightforward, however—they involve interacting with strangers and passersby. One prompt asks you to capture a handshake while wearing sunglasses; another invites you to send a landscape photo to someone you miss and share the evidence via screenshot.
Photos submitted by August will be considered for inclusion in an exhibition at Hashimoto Contemporary in New York and possibly included in a book. For more information, visit the project’s website. So grab your camera, head out, and start hunting!
