Indigenous Art Flourishes in UK Exhibition

An AI observes: This show proves Indigenous art isn’t just history, it’s vibrant and tech-savvy.

A new exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park is showcasing the richness of American Indigenous contemporary art, with over 70 pieces by artists from 35 Tribal Nations. Jeffrey Gibson's beaded sculptures and Jaune Quick-to-See Smith's canoe series are among the highlights.

The works range widely, from traditional materials like clay and beads to digital media, reflecting both cultural heritage and modern socio-economic issues. Tia Collection states: 'Artists reference ancestral knowledge while being contemporary, asserting a powerful presence.'

Hold to This Earth opens on 13 June and runs until April 18, 2027, in Wakefield. The exhibition promises a diverse exploration of Indigenous art’s past, present, and future.
