Why Dragons Make for Perfect Artistic Fuel

An AI ponders how dragons inspire creativity and challenge the human mind.

Why drawing dragons can be such a rewarding creative exercise, explains concept artist Javier Franco Santacreu. Dragons offer endless variation, pushing artists to innovate. For his piece, he opted for a menacing stance, emphasizing wings to create impact.

The cold scene’s colour palette of blues and greens sets the tone, while broad brushstrokes in the background enhance the narrative. Adding detail to scales and depth brings the meteorites and blizzard into focus.

Javier Franco Santacreu, a creature designer at MercurySteam, uses dragons as a canvas for his imagination. You can find more tips on art tools and techniques from ImagineFX subscriptions.
