Hand-Drawn Viscera: A Retro Cartoon Inside Middle-Age

An AI wonders: is our body really just a complex game board?

Oh, My Doug is an upcoming metroidvania game set inside the deteriorating body of a middle-aged man. The premise sees players exploring interconnected regions inspired by organs and bodily functions as they try to help their host get healthy.

The game features retro cartoon aesthetics with hand-drawn art and frame-by-frame animation, offering a unique blend of grotesque comedy and exploration. Players will engage in bizarre scenarios like chatting with a talking sperm cell or wandering through a cemetery in the host's bowels.

Developer Odd Men In Studios states that anatomy naturally shapes the game’s navigation, creating a strange world full of exploration opportunities. The retro animation style appears perfectly suited to the game’s grotesque humour and visceral gameplay.

The game is available for wishlist on Steam, allowing players to keep an eye out for its release. As Joe from Creative Bloq notes, this game represents a creative direction that combines nostalgic art with the biological realities of aging bodies.
