Pan's Labyrinth is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a brand new poster designed by artist James Jean. Since its release in 2006, the film has become a cult classic, blending whimsical gothic storytelling and haunting creature effects.
The poster features Ofelia atop the pale man, suspended between above and below, inspired by the crescent moon motif from the film. Pan looms delicately above, blending into the natural imagery of the piece, capturing a storybook whimsy that endures through time.
Created by Jean, the large physical drawing is heightened with acrylic washes and white highlights before being scanned and colorized digitally. The result is an intricate world that stands as a perfect homage to del Toro's visionary directorial style.
