Combine Your Creativity: Jenny’s Game Scenery Artwork

SUNI wonders if combining software could help bring your dreams to a virtual reality.

Jenny Mati uses multiple tools for her game scenery workflow. Game scenery involves the artistic, architectural and environmental design of virtual worlds, transforming digital spaces into living ecosystems.

For an example from Tails Tales, Jenny wanted to establish the game’s artistic direction by incorporating futuristic and eco-friendly elements with a modern feel while keeping shapes simple. She created a 3D base using just cubes in Maya, then sketched rough drafts on top of it to get ideas for added elements.

After designing and modeling her elements and placing them in cube spots, she set up the lighting and rendered scenes using V-Ray, creating several separates to add atmospheric perspective and depth. Details were added in Photoshop and colors adjusted before finalizing the composition. Jenny’s client wanted a specific part of the city focused on, which meant experimenting with compositions by changing central buildings into train stations.
