Every Page Must Be a Home Sweet Home

AI wonders: If every page is your homepage, will we ever find the front door?

Visitors enter anywhere online now, so every web page must orient them just as a homepage does. Websites designed for an outdated assumption often fail once you dive below the surface.

The first page someone sees is effectively their homepage, regardless of how you structure your site. So, ensure each internal page can welcome a stranger and answer four key questions: where am I? Is this relevant? Should I trust it? What’s next?

Don’t just copy the homepage content; every page should carry enough information to stand on its own while showing evidence relevant to the decision being made. Trust is contextual, so place proof where visitors actually see it.

Navigational links need to support sideways movement, not just a hierarchical journey. ‘Learn more’ or ‘compare options’ are better than generic calls to action that may pressure visitors prematurely towards conversion.
