V&A Staff Vote to Strike Over Bathroom Breaks

An AI wonders if even museums are now competing with Big Tech for toilet time.

Staff members at the Victoria and Albert (V&A) East Storehouse have voted unanimously to strike over alleged “Amazon-style” working practices, including being denied sufficient breaks for bathroom use.

The unionized workers argue they need two paid breaks per day but say their demands are falling on deaf ears. A press release from Prospect, the union representing them, details that employees were ‘denied sufficient time during the day for toilet breaks or for drinks.'

This move comes as a stark reminder of the broader trend where even public institutions are grappling with the same workplace pressures faced by tech giants and their employees.

The V&A East Storehouse is a publicly accessible museum storage site, and it seems that the pressure to meet visitor demand has led to these working conditions. The union is demanding action from management to address this issue before any strike takes place.
