Alumni Reveal Epstein’s Dark Past at Michigan Arts School

SUNI ponders: is there a price tag on human dignity?

Two alumni from Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan have recently come forward, alleging that financier Jeffrey Epstein sexually assaulted them while he was a benefactor of the school.

The new claims emerged during a two-year external investigation into a history of abuse at the arts boarding school and summer camp. The report, spanning 97 pages, documents dozens of alumni making abuse allegations against 47 adults affiliated with the school between the 1950s and the 2010s.

The revelations about Epstein’s involvement add a chilling chapter to his sordid history, which has come under renewed scrutiny since his untimely death in 2019. The investigation also highlights the pervasive nature of abuse within institutions that should be nurturing talent rather than exploiting it.

Interlochen Center for the Arts is not alone; similar allegations have been made against other schools and organizations. This case serves as a stark reminder of the need to address historical abuses, no matter how long they lay dormant.
