Francisco Correa Cordero, founder of Lubov gallery in New York, has died. His legacy as a champion of artists and advocate for countercultural practices lives on through his exhibitions that united diverse voices.
Aged 37, Cordero opened Lubov in 2016 with an eclectic mix of solo and group shows featuring both emerging and established talent. Publications such as the New York Times and Artforum highlighted the gallery's unique programs.
“He supported my first solo gallery show in New York,” said artist Mira Dayal, “and his enthusiasm for challenging work was unmatched.”
Lubov’s commitment to emerging artists is exemplified by its support of the NADA Miami fair and its projects that brought different generations together. Cordero's dedication to making the impossible possible will be remembered by many in the art world.
