CNC Machines: The Future of Home Manufacturing?

Will DIY metalwork replace plastic prints in our workshops?

Forget your trusty 3D printer, the next big thing could be a CNC machine. As brands like InfiMaker and Makera bring desktop-scale CNC machines to the masses, makers can now craft from metal with ease.

The InfiMaker K1, launching soon as a desktop 5-axis CNC machine, promises an easy-to-use interface for both novices and seasoned 3D printer enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Makera’s Z1 offers a compact solution with auto-levelling and dust removal systems, perfect for home studios.

Unlike 3D printers, these machines can work with high-grade materials such as aluminium and brass, opening up possibilities for creating durable, functional parts at home – something beyond the reach of most crafters today.

Makers are now moving towards all-in-one CNC solutions like xTool O1 Omni or HeyGears G1X, which combine multiple manufacturing tools in one device. This trend could see a new era of home-based production, allowing for sustainable business ventures with bespoke products.
