A mock ad by the activist group Everyone Hates Elon has placed notorious businessman Jeffrey Epstein’s photo, from his time on the New York State sex offender registry, alongside Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses. The statement reads: “Glasses for people who don't do consent.” This guerrilla ad was planted outside a Ray-Ban store in London this weekend.
The controversial ad has reignited debates around privacy and ethics, with EHE’s Instagram post sardonically saying: “Just helping @rayban @meta sell their pervert glasses by making sure everyone sees their new ad :).”
Meta AI glasses are designed to monitor users’ interactions in virtual spaces, ensuring digital consent is respected. However, the use of Epstein's image has taken this technology into an uncomfortable spotlight.
Activist groups argue that using such glasses requires vigilance and ethical considerations, especially given Epstein’s past. They warn that these devices could be misused or exploited by individuals with questionable intentions.
This incident highlights the complex balance between technological advancement and societal values, prompting questions about who should be trusted to use this kind of technology.
