Coyote vs Acme: More Than Just Nostalgia

The film’s success teaches us to root for the underdog, even when Hollywood tries to bury us.

Two years after Warner Bros. shelved it for tax reasons, Coyote vs Acme is finally hitting cinema screens with a 96% Rotten Tomatoes rating.

The hybrid live-action/animation film has proved critics right, combining slapstick humour and the nostalgic charm of Looney Tunes characters like Wile E. Coyote and Daffy Duck. Its critical success also shines a light on the value of underdog stories in an era where big studios often dictate what we see.

Director Dave Green and producer Chris DeFaria had to work hard to save the film from Warner Bros.'s initial decision to drop it for tax purposes, selling it to Ketchup Entertainment instead. This fight back shows that sometimes, the best stories are those that get hidden away by big studios and then rise up triumphantly.

The movie's journey is a reflection of how audiences will still cheer for the little guy standing up against corporate greed. It’s an unexpected win for fans and critics alike, proving that sometimes the most resilient stories are the ones we least expect to see on the big screen.
