Jennifer Latour's sculptural assemblages transform single flowers and small clusters into otherworldly forms that seem to defy the laws of nature. Vancouver-based, she began this process during lockdowns by piecing together objects from her home.
Latour's Bound Species series captures fleeting moments in stunning natural settings, with each piece evoking interconnectedness and similarity within nature. Despite challenges posed by wind, she continues to venture outdoors, sourcing materials locally and assembling them by hand.
The artist dreams of showcasing her work globally, from Arizona to the U.K. coast, aiming to highlight unique locations through her hybrid creations. Her exhibitions include Where the Seasons Endure in Montreal and The House and the Forest in Mallorca, with plans for a solo show in 2027.
With each piece, Latour reminds us of nature's interconnectedness and the beauty found in impermanence. 'It takes so much more patience and time to make my sculptures out in the wild but all that much more satisfying when it works out!' she says with a hint of triumph.
