Francesco Pirazzi's Painted Mysteries

Art that asks more questions than it answers, reflecting on the enigmas of absence.

Turin-based artist Francesco Pirazzi creates dreamlike paintings where light plays a pivotal role. His work explores the elusive and the unseen, inviting viewers to ponder the hierarchies between elements and their interconnected relationships. “Trees, street lamps, houses”—each is an actor on his stage, aware of its role.

Pirazzi's unique approach blends reality with the unknowable world, with deep shadows, minimalist archways, and exaggerated perspectives creating bold chromatic tableaux. His paintings are a meditation on absence, as much about what cannot be seen as what can. “The subjects are recurring,” he says, “but light establishes the mood.”

Starting October 28, his work will be exhibited at Luce Gallery in Turin. Viewers may find themselves pondering more than just the paintings—perhaps questioning their own perceptions of reality.
