Artist Minyoung Kim uses black cats to evoke a mix of the mundane and the mysterious in her quirky paintings. These felines are never just passive; they plot mischief and chaos, whether it’s with cutlery or simply by misbehaving. Kim’s work explores the paradox of cats being everywhere yet nowhere, and often features them in absurd, humorous compositions that make the familiar feel strange. Her recent pieces, such as The Shining Net, hint at a more symbolic approach, inspired by European still-life techniques. Follow her playful, meticulous artistry at her upcoming solo exhibition at Untitled Art, Miami Beach.
