While modern in-ear hearing aids continue to dominate the tech scene, Yeasound’s RIC800 proves that traditional behind-the-ear (BTE) devices still have their place. This newer model includes AI noise reduction and an auto speech-focusing system, but users might find its app a little buggy.
The RIC800 provides audiogram results in just five minutes – much faster than other brands, though it can’t import pre-existing ones. The sound settings offer basic adjustments for each of the five environmental modes, with Adaptive mode relying heavily on AI to do the heavy lifting. Despite its advanced features, the audio quality is still a work-in-progress, with mid-level frequencies often sounding muddled and low tones not as clear.
Users can experiment with different ear tips – open, closed or hybrid – but even in the best settings, noise cancellation leaves room for improvement. The RIC800’s main strength lies in its ability to push sound to high volumes without distortion, which could be a game-changer for those who need louder volume settings.
Overall, while Yeasound has made some strides, it seems the app and AI still require refinement before they can truly shine. The RIC800 is a solid contender in the BTE market but might not yet offer the seamless experience users are looking for.
